Public Works Coordinator

The Town of New Castle seeks qualified, energetic, and hardworking applicants for the position of Public Works Coordinator. No previous experience needed. The New Castle Public Works Department manages the functions of the Streets, Parks, Recreation, Water, and Wastewater Departments. This entry level position requires daily hands-on support of field staff and contractors to manage and complete both small and large projects. General duties for this position include capital project management, planning and implementing of special projects, assisting with grant preparations, managing the GIS mapping system, managing the Right-of-Way Permit Program, and managing the Safety Training Program. The department consists of 15 full time employees and five seasonal staff with a combined annual budget of $5,230,000. Candidates should have knowledge of construction principals, business and management fundamentals, and be able to read and understand technical documents. A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field is preferred. Excellent benefits package. Wage: $30/hour+ DOQ.

Streets Maintenance Technician

The Town of New Castle seeks hardworking, energetic applicants for the position of Streets Maintenance Technician. No experience necessary. This rewarding and exciting position provides hands-on support to enhance the operations, maintenance, and capital improvement activities for the Town of New Castle’s public right-of-ways. General duties for this position include asphalt repair, concrete repair, capital project oversight, storm drain system maintenance, street median maintenance, snow removal, and special event preparation. Candidates should have a knowledge of construction principals, asphalt maintenance, concrete finishing, equipment operation, roadway safety and work zone traffic control. Excellent benefits package. Wage: $25/hour+ DOQ. 

Water Operator

The Town of New Castle seeks qualified, energetic, and team oriented applicants for the position of Water Operator. This is an entry level position and requires no previous experience. This is a rare opportunity to gain valuable experience in both the water and wastewater professions with an emphasis on water treatment This position provides skilled work in the operation of the Town’s high tech and modern water and wastewater treatment systems. It also includes the care and maintenance of the town’s water and wastewater infrastructure.

Responsibilities including: • Assisting with water and wastewater daily, weekly, and monthly sampling and analysis. • Performing process control test and adjusting operations of the plants as necessary. • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to specialized process equipment and site buildings. • Diagnose and repair pumps, motors, mixers, aeration blowers, chemical feeders, valves and augers. • Diagnose and repair electronic equipment and electronic control system components. • Oversee the procurement of outside services and materials as needed. • Measure and manage the energy efficiency of the Utility Department facilities.

Requirements: Should have detailed knowledge of the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment. Must have a high school degree and valid Colorado driver’s license. Full time/ year round. Excellent benefits package. Wages: $25/hour + DOQ
