Job Description

This year-round/full-time salaried (exempt) position performs a variety of professional, technical and analytical work to assist in designing and producing external and internal communications materials; responsible for monitoring and assisting in updating three websites; responsible for monitoring social media and communicating on social media.  Acts as a backup public information officer (PIO).

Responsibilities

  • Writes, edits and proofs content for a variety of mediums including digital & print,
  • Captures media (photos, audio, video) of events, meetings and activities to support articles and content across all platforms including print and digital.
  • Maintains photo database and provides requested photo assets to external and internal customers.
  • Assists in managing Town’s social media presence, including formulating strategy and guidelines, providing content, monitoring responses/messages and responding to users.
  • Remains current on marketing & social media trends.
  • Assists in updating website images and content and monitoring website content for accuracy, timeliness and relevance on the consumer, government and intranet websites.  
  • Willingness to serve as back-up and support members on the communications team.
  • Assists in formulating communications plans for special projects and creates flyers, posters and other materials, as needed, to support internal and external communication needs. This includes, but is not limited to, support of the Finance Department in preparing materials for the budget and the scorecard ; of Human Resources in creating materials for recruitment, benefits and training; and of Community Development for special project outreach.   
  • Acts as backup PIO.
  • Distributes posters and flyers.
  • Assists in coordinating media visits.
  • Attends all Town Council meetings and creates and distributes a recap of the meeting in coordination with the Town 
  • Manager, relevant departmental staff and Director of Communications.  
  • Responsible for copywriting and editing as needed, including writing media releases.
  • Assists in identifying video and photography needs and providing support to town video and photography shoots.
  • Participates in committees and meetings as needed- including attending a weekly Communications, Marketing and Events staff meeting.

  • Adheres to Town of Frisco policies, standards, and regulations including, but not limited to proper attire, safety procedures and overall professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
  • Communicates in a professional, courteous, and timely manner both verbally and written when dealing with Town of Frisco Employees, citizens, customers and vendors.  
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.
