Position Title: Meter Technician
Pay Plan Title: Utility Meter Technician
Department: Public Works – Utilities
Reports To: Utility Manager
Hiring Range: $23.63 to $28.36 / Hourly, based on qualifications.
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt – hourly, eligible for overtime


Pre-Hire Requirements: Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and be insurable under Town standards. Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Must live within forty-five (45) miles from Town of Eagle Public Works Facility located at 1050 Chambers Avenue Eagle, Colorado. Total travel time should not exceed sixty (60) minutes at posted driving speeds. This position requires a motor vehicle and a criminal background check.


Position Summary: Primary assignment is maintaining and reading the town’s residential and commercial water meters. The Town Water Distribution System includes 2,200 residential water meters and 700 commercial meters. Secondary assignments include assisting in maintaining the Town’s Water Distribution System and Wastewater Collection System. Functions associated with the water distribution system includes maintaining and operating booster pump stations, pressure relief valves, fire hydrants, water valves, fixing water leaks, water service taps, water tanks and assisting with water treatment facilities. Functions associated with the wastewater collections system includes jetting wastewater collection mains, wastewater manhole inspections, fixing wastewater infrastructure, wastewater service taps, and assists with wastewater treatment facilities.


Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Experience with Water treatment plants helpful.
• Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection License preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Requires successful completion of MVR and criminal background check.
• Ability to work overtime, holidays, and rotating weekends on call. Able to respond to On Call requests in a reasonable time.


Position Type and Expected hours of work: This is a fulltime, benefits eligible position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Other hours to perform snowplow and other emergencies (water breaks, wastewater breaks, etc.) and support Special Events. This position requires the ability to provide on-call responses, which may require evening and weekend hours.
