The Town of Avon seeks an experienced and innovative municipal finance professional to lead the Town of Avon’s Finance Division. This position will succeed the Town of Avon’s long standing Finance Director who is scheduled to retire in September, 2023. Our goal is to provide 9-10+ months of overlap with the current Finance Director to ensure a seamless transition.
Qualified candidates will have a comprehensive background in the management and oversight of financial functions and services provided by local government. The position will be responsible for ensuring the fiscal integrity of the organization by managing fiscal policies and practices and providing oversight of financial operations, including accounting, auditing, budgeting functions, debt administration, treasury management, benefits administration, and asset management planning.
The position will collaborate with the executive management team, including the Town Manager’s Office and municipal departments on a number of community initiatives, including strategic fiscal planning for future development opportunities (both residential and commercial), potential downtown development authority, annexations, state and federal grants, and monitoring the Town’s tax credit obligations for the Village (at Avon) development area. There will be active participation with local metropolitan districts, regional governments, and Avon’s citizen Finance Committee on topics of mutual interest. Qualified candidates will be capable and comfortable with public presentations on complex financial matters. Overall, the position will provide leadership, strategic thinking, and sound financial principles to decision-making for the organization.
