POSITION DESCRIPTION for Program Director

Title: Program Director

Department: Club Management

Reports To: Unit Director

Wage: $50,000-$55,000

Primary Function: Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates grant and non-grant programs. Assists Unit Director with programs and staff hiring, training, and scheduling to create a Club Experience that gives each member opportunities, expectations, and recognition.

Key Roles:

Leadership 1. Provide leadership to staff, members, and volunteers that inspires and enables youth to reach their full potential, including: Oversees the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals. Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities. Oversees the provision of guidance to members to assist them in fulfilling and making appropriate choices in educational, personal, social, emotional, vocational, and spiritual needs. Demonstrates leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members and staff. Participates in monthly staff meetings and all staff trainings

Program Development and Implementation 1. Plan and oversee club special events for members. 2. Plan, implement, and evaluate grant and non-grant related programs. 3. Coordinate all field trips. 4. Purchase Club Program supplies as needed within the Unit Director approved budget. 5. Attend community meetings as a Club representative as needed.

Strategic Planning 1. Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender, age, and cultural diversity. 2. Implement and ensure proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, notable achievements, and any problems/issues. 3. Work with staff to provide high-quality programs and activities that support the Optimal Club Experience.

Marketing & Public Relations 1. Increase the visibility of Club programs via posting of the daily schedule. 2. Update local schools on Club activities and operations.

Additional Responsibilities: a. Oversee special programs and/or events. b. Required to drive the Club vehicles. c. Consult with parents concerning members and Club issues. d. Competent in Microsoft Office. e. Oversee Jr. Staff training and Programs. f. Plan, implement, and evaluate large group programming with members and staff.

Relationships: Internal: Maintain close daily contact with Club staff, Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise/counsel. External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, member’s parents, and others to assist in resolving problems.

Skills/Knowledge Required: 4-year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience. Previous work experience with children. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics. Excellent customer service.
