Fire Inspector
Full-Time, Year-Round

The Summit Fire & EMS (SFE) is now accepting applications for Fire Inspector. This is a full-time, year-round civilian position. 

The general responsibilities of this position include; performing specialized fire prevention duties under direct supervision. This will include but is not limited to verifying compliance and enforcing local, state, and federal fire prevention standards, codes, laws, and ordinances for both new and existing types of occupancies and construction. In addition to these duties, you may also be required to conduct or assist with public education for fire prevention and community risk reduction programs.

It is important to note that this role may require working in severe, high-alpine environment conditions that include temperatures as low as -10°F, extreme winds, and heavy snowfall. The ability to work in challenging weather conditions is essential for this position. This position requires a strong commitment to public safety, attention to detail, time management skills, conflict resolution, and the ability to enforce regulations while maintaining positive relationships with the members of the community.

SFE’s area of response encompasses the Northern half of Summit County, Colorado including the towns of Silverthorne, Dillon, Frisco, Montezuma and unincorporated areas of Copper Mountain, Keystone, Summit Cove and Heeney.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRE INSPECTOR POSITION: 

•    ICC Certification Inspector I - or ability to obtain within 6 Months 
•    CO State Inspector I - or ability to obtain within 6 Months.
•    ICC Certified Inspector II - or ability to obtain within 12 months 
•    CO State Inspector II - or ability to obtain within 12 months. 
•    Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher: and/or possess equivalent certifications in fire    protection system-related courses.
•    ICS 100, ICS 200, FEMA IS700 and IS800 within 6 Months
•    Must be 21 years of age. 
•    Professional conduct while handling multiple tasks. 
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. 
•    Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to speak, read, and write the English language. Ability to speak conversational Spanish is desired.
•    Must be able to lawfully work in the United States.  
•    Must possess a valid driver’s license.
•    CPR and AED certification required, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

COMPENSATION:

•    Salary Ranges: $55,049-80,757.  Adjustments to the starting rate are dependent upon qualifications and previous experience.
•    Tuition Reimbursement for Higher education
•    Position is eligible for full benefits package, including medical/dental/vision insurance, Health Reimbursement Account or Health Savings Account, Empower Pension (401a), Life and Disability coverage.
•    Ability to contribute to 457 account through Empower with 1% matching by the department
•    Service Bonus at intervals
