Grant Administrator $31.48 - $41.52/hour

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the full range of grant development, management, administration, and tracking for Routt County. These activities include grant research, relationship development, and project development, grant related technical assistance and training to project managers, and grant writing to secure grant funds in support of Routt County projects, activities, and operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Works with Routt County Departments to identify and develop projects that are competitive for grant funding, researches grant programs and creates effective grant applications.
• Develops competitive grant projects and proposals in conjunction with departments of Routt County.
• Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage, administer, and track grants.
• Work with the Accounting department to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs.
• Support departments to comply with all grant reporting and updates as required by funders and donors.
• Ensures that Federal and State requirements are followed and that the County is in good standing with these agencies.
• Ability to gain Understanding of Routt County History and Departmental Programs.
• Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting in accordance to all retention policies for these documents.
• Track statistics relevant to development and provide each department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship as well as long term planning goals of Routt County.
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget where grants are concerned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY TO:
• Grant development and management techniques, strong track record in developing successful grant applications and managing private, state and federal grants;
• Public relations and social media techniques, strong track record of developing effective media releases, social media campaigns and other documents;
• Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions;
• Read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, technical procedures, grant guidelines, and government regulations;
• Perform research techniques, methods, and procedures.
• Accurately record and maintain records; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials and the public;
• Communicate effectively verbally, in writing and on-line.
• Recommend which grants to apply for based on the organization’s goals and strengths.

• Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
• Strong editing skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of grant information sources.
• Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
• Strong contributor in team environments.
• Must be detail oriented and highly organized and be able to juggle many projects and deadlines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing or field relevant to skills above.
• Two years related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of grants community network and resources.
• Government experience preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Colorado Driver’s License may be required to operate a County vehicle.
