JOB GOAL: 
Assist teacher with instructing students, reinforcing materials and skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining technology, and/or managing student behavior.  Assist in supervising students throughout the day.
 
REPORTS TO:     Building Administrator; Licensed Teacher
EVALUATOR:      Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • May be certified to sub, but not required
  • Will operate under direct supervision of teacher and/or administrator
  • Experience is a school setting and/or educational training preferred but not required

 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate office and classroom equipment
  • Clerical duties and attendance records as assigned
  • Prepare materials and maintain supplies
  • Administering, scoring, and/or recording assessment information
  • Progress monitoring students
  • Maintaining files, records, and/or progress monitoring reports
  • Setup and maintain equipment and learning materials
  • Reinforce lessons initiated by classroom teacher – follow up on teacher’s lesson plans
  • May be required to work with individuals or small groups
  • Bus and classroom duty – assist drivers, teachers, students with adaptive equipment, monitoring physical welfare of student(s) as assigned
  • Assist students with personal and hygienic care
  • Maintain a good work record/punctuality
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Escorting students to library, computer room, resource room, lunchroom, etc.
  • May supervise student behavior during daily activities - playground, lunchroom, study hall, field trips, etc.
  • Attend appropriate building meetings, in-services, school functions, and/or trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 
TERMS of EMPLOYMENT;

  • Length of Contract                                         Based on student contact days (no additional days)
  • Length of Day                                                7.5 hours with 30 minute lunch

                           
REQUIREMENTS;

  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use proper English grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team setting
  • Ability to assist in supporting classroom management systems and reinforcing systems
  • Sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
