The position Full time faculty positions begin in August 2024 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. This position may also include marginal administrative release to serve as the campus/location lead (3-6 credits). Additionally, the teaching load may also occur at off-site locations and support online and campus (Spring Valley and/or Breckenridge) support as needed. The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) and Criminal Justice (CRJ) courses in the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy (CLETA) and Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice programs which may include but is not limited to: investigatory procedures; communications; human relations; basic law; US Constitutional issues; patrol procedures; officer safety; community relations and observational skills. Additional responsibilities include student advising and assessment, direct contact with students in scenario roles and assessment of incident based scenario training. The successful candidate will also assist with program logistics which may include but is not limited to: purchasing equipment for skills classes, vehicle maintenance, scheduling, assisting the adjunct instructors and coordinating with the agencies. Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities. CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention. Salary range: $74,591.59 - $90,852.49 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. Requirements: Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include: A minimum of an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4,000 hours of verifiable work experience in law enforcement within the last 7 years; or a Bachelor’s degree and 2,000 hours verifiable work experience within the last 7 years. Preferred: Master’s Degree and 2,000 hours verifiable work experience within the last 7 years. Degree in Criminal Justice preferred. Minimum of one year fulltime teaching/training experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Special Skills or Attributes: Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T) certified or completion of P.O.S.T. certification within the first 6 months of employment required; P.O.S.T. supervisory experience in law enforcement and instructor certification in one or more of the three P.O.S.T. skill areas preferred.
