Job Description: Primary Responsibility Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Business Services, the Business Systems Specialist (BSS) is a primary point of contact for technical support of central multi-user administrative applications, especially Workday.

The BSS will perform primary and secondary technical problem identification, analysis, and resolution. This includes troubleshooting applications and software for all internal customers, and is also responsible for assisting the software developers in testing software updates and new applications systems.

Technical support duties may include implementing automated solutions for manual processes, project managing technology enhancements, initiating requests for system enhancements or changes to business procedures where applicable, and communicating with and potentially training of end-users. This position monitors the performance of system modules; collaborates with applications services staff; tests modifications and enhancements; assesses, troubleshoots, and documents system processing issues. Researches, tests and implements technology enhancements to meet compliance requirements for Federal/State reporting. Typically the position works with direct supervision while interacting with the IT Service Desk staff and members of the application development team in gaining insight to business processes, terminology and best practices which prove helpful in problem identification and resolution.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include a Bachelor’s Degree and two years related experience, or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: Preferred experience with Workday or other Financial Management Systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office, knowledge of computer information systems; proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies and issue resolution techniques. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills. Knowledge of the logic of computer applications and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to solve routine, extraordinary, and complex office problems. Welcoming. Innovative. Hiring range = $62,529.79 - $69,477.55 ($30.06 - $33.40 per hour) annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience.

CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Minimum Qualifications: Essential Duties Maintains and monitors the Finance module in Workday to include regular system updates, trouble shooting, technology enhancements, and provide training and updates for end-users.

Tests, fixes, and documents system-related issues and performs post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved. Can escalate support issues when appropriate and manage third party and vendor relationships. Serves as the Region Costing Manager within Workday to ensure budgetary and procedural compliance and subsequently approve transactions for central services and the college wide regions. Serves as the Reporting Lead within Workday for Business Services. Develops Workday reports by communicating with IT regarding the required data needing to be collected. Synthesizes business issues and end-user needs and provides technical solutions. Develops and interprets technical documentation for training and end-user procedures. Coordinates with department and campus heads to assess application training needs and objectives. Identifies areas of operational weakness and possible training solutions and develops individual or group training opportunities, materials, and documentation. Manages and tracks large number of details and facts and understands how each fits into the big picture. Tests system updates for compatibility and assesses module updates for implementation. Including critical path testing. Interprets and implements regulatory changes, both internal and external, to maintain compliant systems and procedures.

Makes the Assistant Vice President of Business Services and the Controller aware of any issues that may compromise compliance with laws, regulations and policies. Serves on the software governance committee and recommends changes and improvements to systems to enhance end-users’ adoption and use. Other duties as assigned Supervision Received This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Business Services. Supervisory Responsibility This position serves as a lead to other team members. Special Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a background check including motor vehicle records report will be required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.

Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally.
