The position Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Support Services, the Audio-Visual Engineer works in the Technology Support Services team and is responsible for providing technical expertise in supporting commercial-grade, instructional, and general audio/visual technology, ensuring technology is consistent, reliable, innovative, and meeting the needs of the college now and into the future. This position manages installation projects large and small and performs preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, upgrades, modifications, and installations of general college audio/visual technology, video streaming technology, classroom audio/visual technology, and event audio/visual technology. This position researches technology trends and proposes technological enhancements and improvements for the college and its various spaces and classrooms. This position works directly with vendors and contractors for large project installation and troubleshooting tasks and oversees smaller in-house installation projects. This position provides direct and indirect training to students and staff in the use of the college’s audio/visual technology, instructional technology, and remote learning technology. Hiring range = $71,208.96 - $79,121.07 annual salary depending upon a combination of education and experience. View/download job description including hiring salary range: Audio-Visual Engineer Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position. Examples include a High School Diploma/GED and six years of commercial audio/visual support, project management, or related work experience; Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution and four years of related work experience; Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in computer science or related IT field with two years of related work experience; or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Preferred experience/certifications include: Avixa Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification, Commercial Audio Technician (CAT) certification, Crestron Technical Institute (CTI) Technician certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Audio Engineer, Certified Video Engineer Special skills or abilities related to the position: Advanced knowledge of commercial audio/visual technology. Advanced knowledge of theater, auditorium, and classroom audio/visual technology. Advanced knowledge of boardroom and conference room audio/visual technology. Advanced knowledge of microphone and voice systems. Advanced knowledge of room control systems. Advanced knowledge of SMART learning technology. Familiarity with technology from Crestron, Cisco, JBL, Smart, Zoom, Webex, Microsoft, Apple, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung, BIAMP, AMX, Atlona, and others. Familiarity with IT networking protocols, concepts, and equipment. Proven ability to work with end users and vendors. Ability to work effectively as a team member. Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Strong Project Management experience and strong interpersonal skills.
