Distribution Technician 1/ Light Equipment Operator
Full time with excellent benefits. $40,812/$19.62 - $58,667/$28.21 depending on experience. HS graduate/GED. Valid Colorado driver’s license and current minimum Class B CDL; negative pre-employment drug test; home telephone; Distribution Technician Level 1 certification within 1 year of date of hire; Subject to random drug testing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains, repairs, and installs water and sewer transmission lines, fire hydrants, water valves, service connections and all related appurtenances. Repairs and maintains facilities, infrastructure, vehicles, tools, and equipment. Inspects taps and service line installations.
Performs utility line locates. Assists and inspects work performed by utility contractors employed by the city. Operates front end loader, dump truck, forklift, and numerous other forms of powered equipment. May operate backhoe, depending on qualifications. Maintains all necessary inventory. Performs water metering duties. All other duties as requested.
Skills/Experience:
Interpersonal and public relations; mechanical; electrical; industrial plumbing. Operation of light and/or heavy equipment and construction equipment for excavation and backfill procedures.
Supervision of unskilled and/or seasonal employees. Working knowledge of municipal water and wastewater systems. Basic operator skills with light and/or heavy equipment, gas powered tools, construction equipment, etc.
Education/Training:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to stressful situations and conditions, inclement weather, dust, high pressure water lines and continuous operation of equipment or machinery, etc. Excavation near potentially dangerous and/or expensive utilities. Confined spaces and entry. On call and call outs at all hours.
Physical Demands:
Good physical health and condition; standing; crawling; stooping; bending; manual dexterity and climbing, etc. Occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
