Assistant Distiller • Gypsum, CO • Part Time (hourly) with potential for full-time (hourly)

Company Description: Founded in 2017, Archetype Distillery is an ultra-premium vodka and gin distillery located in Vail CO and Gypsum, CO. Full distillery operations performed on-site in Gypsum: fermentation to bottling, including additional distillation techniques using rotary evaporator equipment. All products distilled exclusively from wine grapes. Archetype is looking for independent and responsible employees that are motivated to be part of a growing business.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Distillery Manager in all aspects of spirit production and packaging. This includes: • Setting up and running fermentations/distillations/operating a rotary evaporator. • Maceration/processing food items (peeling lemon zest, chopping peppers in bulk for example). • Labelling, case-making, bottling & product quality control. This will include repetitive motion and lifting. • Transferring liquids, cutting spirit to proof/finishing spirits. • Measuring/recording/reporting all distillery activities to government agencies via written record and software. • General cleaning and upkeep. • Engaging with/selling to customers as needed in the tap room. • Work in place of Distillery Manager when needed. • Managing and moving inventory.

Qualifications & Experience: • Any brewery or distillery experience preferred. • Basic understanding of chemistry. • Basic math & writing skills. • Some customer-facing experience is a plus. • Mechanical knowledge/savvy is a plus. • Forklift/warehouse experience is a plus. Candidate is willing to: • Operate a forklift and pallet jack. • Move & lift heavy and awkward objects up to 50LB (cases & carboys). • Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat. • Climb up and down and stand on ladders. • Show up on time and prepared to work. • Follow instructions & ask questions. • Work independently & multitask. • Operate and monitor hazardous equipment (stills, boiler, chiller, rotovap) and act accordingly. • Work long days (12 hours max, once a week max, and not exceeding 40 hours weekly). The ideal candidate: • Is motivated, curious, has a positive attitude, and is solution minded. • Practices patience/is able to keep calm under pressure. • Is detail oriented and organized. • Speaks & reads English proficiently; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus. • Is over 21 with functioning taste buds/palette.

The ideal candidate does NOT: • Just want free alcohol. • Show up late/with a bad attitude. • Give excuses/complain often. Salary & Benefits: • Pay starting from $20/hr depending on experience • Availability: This position requires an 8-week (paid) training/trial period, with option to hire or not. • Full insurance (health, dental, vision) available after training period. • Wednesday-Friday 10 am-6 pm. Potential for more hours (40 max), depending on need.
