Job Description

Background:

Kent, Campa and Kate Incorporated (KCK) is a federal contracting company that provides professional services to Government Agencies. We are currently seeking candidates for an OMT Communications Expert position in Arlington, VA supporting the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). 

Position Summary:

The OMT Communications Expert will be located in the The Office Management Training Division (SPAS/OMT) at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI). The Office Management Training Division (FSI/SPAS/OMT) directs, designs and conducts training programs designed to instill and improve the skills and knowledge of office management personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5 years of training/curriculum/instructional design experience, with proven ability in designing and delivering a variety of communication skills training courses using a broad array of delivery modalities (e.g., blended, hybrid, in-person) and methods (e.g., flipped, experiential, continuous).
  • Education: Master’s degree (or higher) in relevant field.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of teaching fundamental business writing skills: grammar, punctuation, conciseness/clarity/cohesion, active voice, Plain Writing Act of 2010, and proofreading.
  • Knowledge of appropriate integration of educational technologies and continuous learning techniques to enhance the learning experience, maximize achievement of learning objectives, and facilitate transfer of learning to the workplace or personal setting, as appropriate to the course goals.
  • Knowledge and skills in the development of curricula and courses Skills in conducting formal adult training, ideally involving the subject matter for which the position is responsible.
  • Knowledge and skills in training evaluation to evaluate the results of courses for which the position is responsible.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to carry out management and administrative functions as required in connection with the courses for which the position is responsible.
  • Familiarity with and the ability to use computer and related technologies.
  • Ability to use oral and written communication to carry out or facilitate the accomplishment of numerous functional responsibilities of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate classroom activities that support the training programs.
  • Commitment to a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): 

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of courses and modules to incorporate communications skills training in overall curricula.
  • Revise existing courses and modules to ensure training is useful and applicable to the intended audience.
  • Conduct research and assesses overall effectiveness of communications skills training and programs.
  • Research and advise on using educational technology and computer-based training in Division courses and programs Identify speakers and pedagogical materials and resources to support Division programs.
  • Collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to conduct needs/audience analysis; develop training objectives, evaluation strategy, and course/product outlines; design course/product content; develop scaffolded, interactive course activities, and assessment items.
  • Compile and organize information and writing and editing instructional materials to adapt policies and procedures, regulations, reference documents, and raw materials into clear, effective, interactive, and experiential training.
