Job Description

The Roaring Fork Valley, home to the Snowmass Bike Park, is designated an IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center, one of only seven in the world and the only Gold-Level Ride Center in Colorado. The Snowmass Bike Park has over 25 miles of purpose built trails and extends 3,000 vertical feet. Our coaches share the skills needed to master all terrain and create personalized experiences for our guests.

The Bike School Coach will teach downhill and/or cross-country mountain-biking skills and handling to individuals and groups of all ability levels, including children. Coaches expose guests to the sport of mountain biking in a safe and fun environment.
  • Applications for this position will be accepted until May 1, 2024 for the Summer 2024 Season.

Essential Job Functions
  • Work together with fellow coaches to organize groups and students according to individual student goals and abilities
  • Teach and demonstrate bike skills to classes in a safe environment using a variety of teaching and riding techniques
  • Coach a variety of lessons, including camps for children, intro clinics for beginners, skills clinics for more advanced riders, and private lessons
  • Lead groups and individuals on designated downhill or cross-country trails


Qualifications
  • Advanced mountain biking skills required
  • Proven bike handling skills on a downhill course preferred
  • 3 years of full time documented coaching/teaching experience with adults or children preferred
  • Must be able to work with fellow employees and on own with group of students
  • PMBIA Level 1 certification, or equivalent, preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred


Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received

Supervision Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Supervision Received: Works under general supervision of the Bike School Coordinator or Manager. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor's directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

Work environment and Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
