The Orenda Center of Wellness is a residential substance abuse treatment facility exclusively for Men located in Buckeystown, Maryland. We are a fun energetic company doing our part in the battle against addiction and mental health stigma, by offering the highest standard of individualized treatment in a loving and therapeutic environment. Our mission is to improve our communities access to healthcare services, while serving the ever-growing population of those suffering from the afflictions of substance use disorders. Our facility prides itself on preparing delicious quality food from scratch that allows for our residence to get nutritionally balance meals with the feel of home cooking.
We are actively seeking an experienced professional chef to take over the day-to-day operations of our kitchen as well as weekly menu creations at our men's inpatient facility. The ideal candidate should be organized with experience in adherence to health department food safety protocols, inventory tracking processes and commercial food ordering. A deep level of compassion and understanding will be indispensable in this role as we work with a population that has not only suffer from behavioral disorders but also physical and/or medical limitations. Special accommodations and ancillary meal options for certain residence will be required as needed. Prior work in medical and/or behavioral healthcare is requested for this position.
Schedule Requested:
Full time - 40 hours per week
Wednesday through Sunday 10AM- 6PM
Requirements:
- Knowledge of food allergies and nutritional requirements in healthcare residential settings
- Experience ordering and preparing meals in a commercial food service setting
- Minimum 2 years previous work experience in medical and/or behavioral food services field
- Understanding and compassion toward the affliction of addictions and mental health disorders
- Ability to prepare and cook meals on a large scale to feed up to 32 to 40 men at one time without taste or quality being compromised
- Active CPR and food safety certifications required (SERV Safe Cert Required)
- Ability to a work in a team environment and be flexible to clients' needs
- Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA regulatory standards
- Experience working with commercial grade kitchen equipment and products
Position Offering:
- Competitive starting hourly rate $22.00 to $28.00 per hour
- 2 Week PTO per year with rollover options after 90 days
