Education Week, a leading provider of news and insights on K-12 education, is seeking a Manager of District Partnerships to join our Sales team.   

 

Job Summary  

This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial K-12 sales executive to work for a distinguished brand and use your district sales expertise to help grow an emerging and important area of our business. You will work with districts across the country, be a lead ambassador for EdWeek’s professional learning resources, and join an organization that is deeply committed to supporting the K-12 ecosystem. 

 

The Manager of District Partnerships position is responsible for driving new sales of EdWeek’s Group Online Subscriptions service to K-12 school districts. This service provides districts with highly respected K-12 journalism, research, and insights that empower and inspire teachers and leaders, and help them create great learning environments for all students. 

 

Responsibilities  

  • Create and execute a sophisticated territory plan. 

  • Consistently schedule and execute a volume of virtual or in-person meetings with purchasing stakeholders that meets weekly meeting KPIs 

  • Engage prospects via a range of communication channels, deliver a high volume of discovery calls, surface prospects’ challenges, and develop effective proposals that demonstrate how EdWeek will support their goals. 

  • Maintain a robust pipeline, including up-to-date account plans, forecasts, and documentation of key activities. 

  • Follow a sales process that aligns to district purchasing timelines and needs. 

  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including Superintendents, District staff, and Principals. 

  • Achieve quarterly and annual sales quotas. 

  • Provide excellent pre-sale and on-boarding service that ensures customer success and retention. 

  • Stay abreast of K-12 trends, evolving customer needs, competition, funding sources, and federal/state/local policies. 

  • Serve as an informed voice of the school district customer. Identify and prioritize customer feedback, and coordinate with internal stakeholders. 

Qualifications and Skills  

  •  8+ years of B2B (or equivalent) sales experience, with at least 5+ years selling to school districts.  

  • Experience selling research, subscriptions, information and/or professional development solutions to K-12 districts strongly preferred. 

  • Develop new business and meet challenging sales quotas 

  • Maintain and nurture a robust professional network of district leaders as well as a passion for finding ways to help K-12 leaders and districts overcome obstacles and meet their objectives via the use of EW’s GOS. 

  • Knowledge of current trends in K-12 education, K-12 professional learning, B2B sales, and the practice of selling products/services to school districts 

  • Deep understanding of K-12 school district trends, needs, purchasing processes, influencers and decision makers within purchasing teams, and other details that are necessary for selling into K-12 school districts. 

  • Experience with SalesForce, Microsoft Office Suite, and other digital communication tools (e.g. Zoom, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Yesware), and the ability to leverage these and other technologies to improve effectiveness. 

  • Able to work flexible schedule, and travel as required to meet needs of business (up to 15-20% of time) 

  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills, and organizational skills. 

  • Great discovery skills and a genuine interest in helping district leaders and their teams. 

  • Strong professional network of district leaders. 

  • Deep knowledge of district purchasing processes, funding sources and other factors that impact the purchase of professional learning resources.   

  • Excellent sales process and experience working with teams as well as success working independently.
