Job Description

SUMMARY

The Dietary Aide is responsible for the food service needs of the Agency clients and employees. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm.

Weekends as needed.

Part-time schedule (30 hrs. per week).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for our clients, colleagues and community partners from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Integrates principles of Trauma Informed Care in all aspects of work.
  • Is sensitive to the children’s culture and socioeconomic characteristics that delivers the best possible care to the youth and families served.
  • Ability to cover all shifts in the kitchen.
  • Set up cafeteria and lunchroom for all meals.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to all agency children and staff following the National School Breakfast and Lunch, After-school snack, and health department regulations.
  • Assist with the cleanliness of kitchen and serving areas.
  • Assist with the storeroom organization and stocking of supplies.
  • Use the help ticket system to set up, deliver and clean-up of food items for special events, meetings, and training.
  • Prepare boxed meals for outings and field trips.
  • Completes production sheets and necessary paperwork required per regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • HS diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working in industrial or commercial grade kitchen setting with working knowledge of kitchen set up, tools, and appliances.
  • Working knowledge of food preparation and cooking

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of empathy and compassion in meeting the needs of our clients and client families.
  • Ability to build strong bonds with employees and managers to foster open, honest, and candid communication.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to work and contribute as a member of the dietary team.
  • Ability to complete the required number of Professional Development hours as required by the Department of Education.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and listen.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot surfaces, sharp utensils and tools required for completion of job duties.
  • Requires ability to follow all FDA Food Code regulations.
Work Environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate, but is subject to loud verbal or displayed outbursts from potentially distressed children seeking treatment.
  • The building temperature may vary during each season and the work environment may be unseasonably cold or warm during the year.
